NFL Rumors: Insider provides update on Jeff Bezos’ pursuit of Washington Commanders despite Josh Harris’ $6BN bid
Will Jeff Bezos be the new owner of the Washington Commanders? As the deadline to place a bid for the NFL franchise creeps closer, it appears that the Amazon founder hasn't officially done so. But, if and when he is ready, current owner Daniel Snyder apparently won't stop him from doing so.
Sources told Front Office Sports that the bidding group of Josh Harris, Magic and Cookie Johnson, and Mitchell Rales has placed an offer of $6 billion for the team. Bezos and his group haven't done so. However, they still have weeks to formally submit their offer.
According to AJ Perez of Front Office Sports, Daniel Snyder will choose a bid and new owner on or around May 22, 2023. Which is when the next NFL owners' meeting is scheduled to take place.
That is also just one day before the Washington Commanders will have voluntary workouts.
This new potential date is interesting as many speculated that Daniel Snyder would sell the franchise before the NFL Draft. In new player contracts that were signed last month, signing bonuses aren't scheduled to be paid until May 12, 2023.
This, many believe, was due in part to Snyder believing that he would have sold the team already and not be financially responsible for the bonuses.
Who is Steve Apostolopoulos, a potential bidder for the Washington Commanders?

While it has been widely speculated that Josh Harris' group and Jeff Bezos were two of the top contenders for the Washington Commanders, there is another one as well.
Canadian businessman Steve Apostolopoulos has also had his eyes set on possibly buying a professional sports franchise. Importantly, it appears that he is interested in the Washington Commanders.
Steve Apostolopoulos is a Toronto native who is a businessman and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Six Ventures, a private equity firm and the managing partner of the real estate firm Triple Group of Companies.
He also co-founded Caary, the credit card firm, a progressive financial platform that caters to all applicants despite their financial history.
Apostolopoulos has reportedly put in a $6 billion bid for Washington that is said to be fully funded without a loan. Washington isn't the only team that Steve Apostolopoulos is said to be interested in purchasing.
He has also expressed interest in purchasing the NHL's Ottawa Senators as well. But no word has come yet as to how far along in the process Apostolopoulos is.
