NFL Rumors: Odell Beckham Jr flying into New York as Aaron Rodgers deadline inches closer
Odell Beckham Jr. remains on the quest to find his new team and some favorites are starting to emerge. The New York Jets have made it clear they're interested in the wide receiver and it looks like a deal might be coming soon.
According to CBS Sports insider Josina Anderson, Beckham is planning to fly to New York on Sunday to meet with the Jets' front office on Monday. The wide receiver himself told the reporter.
Ian Rapoport, an insider from the NFL Network, has chimed in. According to the reporter, the meeting will not only discuss a deal between the two parties but will also be about how Beckham fits into an offense led by Aaron Rodgers.
The physical aspect will be another important topic, as he's been out of the league since Super Bowl LVI due to a knee injury that kept him out of the 2022 season as a whole.
How much will Odell Beckham Jr. cost for the New York Jets if they reach a deal?
Based on talent alone, there's no doubt that he's the best wide receiver available in free agency since mid-March. But questions about the salary he's demanding are at the center of the discussion.
Back in the new league year's first week, the wide receiver took to Twitter to express his disdain for some of the rumors going around. He effectively made the point that he's not going to take any contract just for the sake of it.
"I'm just so confused where the quote is from me that said I want 20.....all I'm sayin is 4 AINT enough"
Whichever team signs Odell Beckham Jr. knows that they're getting a superstar receiver, even if the price might feel a little high in the beginning. Once he gets on the field, everyone will remember how talented he is.
OBJ last played for the Los Angeles Rams - and won his first ring with the team - with a 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He flirted with many teams about a possible comeback during the 2022 season, but it did not materialize.
