NFL Trade Rumors: DeAndre Hopkins joining Deshaun Watson? Analyst drops hint at reunion
Deshaun Watson is still in the process of getting back into the swing of things in the NFL. However, the quarterback might see a boost in 2023 with the addition of an old teammate.
Speaking on the Herd with Colin Cowherd, NFL analyst Jeff Howe claimed the Cleveland Browns have an interest in getting the receiver, albeit a limited one. Here's how he put it:
"I would see the Browns as a team that still clearly needs a receiver and I think that they're probably interested to an extent. But this is going to be a slow-playing market, at least from what I've heard over the last few days."
Will DeAndre Hopkins and Deshaun Watson play on the same team in 2023?
DeAndre Hopkins waiting on news of potential full circle moment with Deshaun Watson
In 2019, the Browns quarterback and Hopkins were seen by many as one of the top quarterback-receiver duos in the league. However, since the end of that season, both players have taken their own paths.
Hopkins was traded to the Arizona Cardinals and Deshaun Watson was thrown at the mercy of the legal system after a horde of women came forward with accusations of sexual misconduct.
Watson spent most of the next two seasons dealing with the fallout from the accusations. Only halfway through 2022 did he see his first snaps since the end of the 2020 season. Meanwhile, Hopkins helped Kyler Murray to get to the next stage of his career.
On Hopkins' watch, the Cardinals reached the playoffs for the first time since the Carson Palmer era. However, he also played a part in the worst season of the quarterback's career, missing half of the 2022 season due to suspension. Now, with both players' suspensions behind them, will 2023 see a reunion?
