NFL Trade Rumors: Former Colts HC calls for Bills to create Davante Adams-Stefon Diggs duo

Stefon Diggs might be stretching defenses to their brink, but it's not enough, at least for former Colts head coach Jeff Saturday. Speaking on Get Up, Saturday called for a trade that might break the NFL in pairing up Stefon Diggs and Davante Adams. Here's how he put it:

"[00:02:03] I'm going to go Buffalo Bills. ... I just think his explosiveness with Josh Allen [would give] them a second layer of this offense and they need some explosive plays in Buffalo because the run game hasn’t caught up. [00:02:25]"

Why would the Las Vegas Raiders trade Davante Adams?

The number one receiver was the crown addition of the 2022 offseason for the Las Vegas Raiders. Just a year and a half later, many believe the wide receiver's time with the franchise might be winding down.

Comments made by Aaron Rodgers' former top wideout have served as Exhibit A. However, the wide receiver signed a contract with the team and is essentially stuck with them until the team decides to move on. Why would the franchise elect to make such a move?

Adams turns 31 this year, meaning that his prime could end at any time. At 3-4, the team's Week 8 matchup against the Detroit Lions looms large.

Depending on how the game goes, the Las Vegas Raiders could emerge 3-5 or 4-4. 3-5 might be a weak enough record to get the team thinking about the future.

Of course, the Monday Night Football timing doesn't leave much room to wonder. The team would need to essentially have already made the decision to trade based on the outcome.

That would mean having buyers lined up immediately. If a trade is going to happen, the groundwork likely is already done.

If the two were paired up, the Bills would be pairing up Stefon Diggs with 678 yards and six touchdowns with Adams, who has 528 yards and three touchdowns. Diggs is fourth in the league in receiving yards. Davante Adams is 11th. Having them both on the same roster might make Bills fans plan for the Super Bowl.

However, with both personalities frustrated already, the idea of putting them in a competition for targets might make some wary. Additionally, attempting to figure out which player to list second on the depth chart might be a nightmare for Sean McDermott.

However, if the general manager wants talent above all else, he'll be willing to make the move despite these fears.

Will a trade of this magnitude go down by Tuesday of next week?
