NFL Trade Rumors: Insider floats win-win Bryce Young move to see Heisman winner land with offensive genius

The Carolina Panthers made the decision to bench quarterback Bryce Young after the 0-2 start to the season. With veteran quarterback Andy Dalton now set to start for the Panthers going forward, there is speculation that Young could be on his way out of Carolina.

Former NFL quarterback turned ESPN analyst, Dan Orlovsky, was a guest on "the Pat McAfee Show" on Tuesday afternoon and gave his take on the situation. Orlovsky expressed his thoughts on Young's status with the team in the future:

"I think Bryce Young is done in Carolina and I would encourage them to trade him."

He then said stated which NFL team he thought would be a good fit for the former first-round draft pick:

"If I were the Los Angeles Rams I would probably make a call."

He said that with Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford getting older and the team suffering through injuries, Young would be a good fit in Sean McVay's offense. Orlovsky then doubled down on his opinion and re-shared the post and encouraged the Los Angeles Rams to work out a deal with the Carolina Panthers.

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper gives his thoughts on how Panthers handled Bryce Young

Bryce Young entered the 2024 NFL season, his second in the league, under his third head coach. Dave Canales, who is seen as an offensive wizard and has helped Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield improve, was expected to work his magic on Young.

The former Heisman Trophy winner though, didn't show much improvement in his first two games. He didn't have any touchdowns and had a passer rating of 44.1 with three interceptions. NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper shared his thoughts on how the Carolina Panthers handled Young and he was blunt about his anger toward the team.

Kiper first discussed the lack of playing time Young saw in the preseason:

“CJ Stroud played in two preseason games this year. Derek Carr played in two preseason games. Why? Because Klint Kubiak’s coming in with a new offense and Derek Carr as a veteran played in two preseason games."

Kiper then went on to blame the Carolina Panthers:

"Bryce Young played one series of the final preseason game. Does that make sense to you? When two games in, we’re saying he can’t play. Yes, his confidence was shattered. Yes, he does need to sit behind Andy Dalton for a bit. But to blame this on Bryce Young is ridiculous. The blame here goes to the organization and the owner for mishandling the situation.”

Young may need additional time to develop, however, Kiper believes he wasn't given enough time to do so.
