NFL Trade Rumors: Rob Gronkowski gets candid on Lamar Jackson’s rumored move to Patriots

Lamar Jackson hasn't signed a contract extension yet with the Baltimore Ravens and has requested a trade as well. Due to it, his name is linked with multiple teams around the league, including one that is the New England Patriots.

After reports emerged about Mac Jones being shopped by Bill Belichick and the Patriots, many thought that the franchise could be aggressively pursuing Jackson. Former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski recently spoke about the Ravens QB's rumored move to Belichick's team.

Here's what Gronk said on the Up and Adams Show:

“I think he would be a good fit in a way. But at the same time, I don't think he would be a good fit. It kind of goes both ways because he wants a quarterback, you know that I feel like, Coach Belichick would always kind of dreamed of a quarterback on top of you know, just not just a pocket passer but like a Lamar Jackson type, the one that could be able to run the ball as well."
"I just feel like he likes those type of quarterbacks from all the times and talked about them in meetings and stuff and we are going against so. So that's why it would be a good fit, but it won't be a good fit at the same time because he has to pay him 50 plus million dollars."
"He's not paying 50 plus million dollars for a quarterback. So, therefore it's not a good fit right off the bat because of that reason. So I don't think that's going to go down at all.“

Rob Gronkowski emphasized both aspects that explain why a trade for Lamar Jackson to the New England Patriots would make or break the franchise.

The Patriots aren't known for lavishing money on players, so handing Jackson a hefty contract seems unlikely. However, it will be intriguing to see how Mac Jones' situation develops in the coming months.

“I don’t think that is going to go down at all.”

A player like Lamar Jackson would make the Patriots a team to be fearful of. They already have a great defense, and adding a dynamic quarterback like Jackson will make them unstoppable on the offense as well.

Although Mac Jones has talent, there is no doubt that the Ravens quarterback will be an upgrade over the current Patriots quarterback. If the stories regarding the supposed rift between Jones and Belichick are true, a move for Jackson could be in the works; otherwise, the former Alabama quarterback is expected to remain the starting quarterback.
