Nick Bosa's mom Cheryl makes feelings clear over 49ers DE's MAGA message in support of Donald Trump
Nick Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers battled it out with the Dallas Cowboys under the bright lights of primetime football, picking up a crucial 30-24 win to improve to 4-4 on the season. On the occasion of National Tight Ends day, the focus was on 49ers TE George Kittle, who went off for a season-high 92 yards off six receptions.
NBC's Melissa Stark proceeded to interview Kittle, Brock Purdy and running back Isaac Guerendo after the game. Their teammate Nick Bosa thought it was an opportune moment to crash the interview and send a strong political message. Bosa flashed a MAGA hat as his teammates were being interviewed on live television, making his political leanings extremely clear.
After the Sunday Night Football showdown, Bosa's mother Cheryl also sent a message on social media, reposting a message saying that she raised her son right.
#BOSAFORTRUMP was the message outlined at the bottom of the Instagram reel.
In his post-game press conference, Nick Bosa didn't have much to say about his MAGA stunt.
“I’m not gonna talk too much about it, but I think it’s an important time,” Bosa said.
Notably, NBC cut Bosa's MAGA stunt out of their social media video of the interview.
Exploring Nick Bosa's history with Donald Trump
Bosa's history with Trump goes way back to 2019 when the Niners picked the star DE with the second overall pick. Trump congratulated Bosa on landing with the Niners in an effusive tweet, saying:
"You will be a great player for years to come, maybe one of the best. Big talent! San Francisco will embrace you but most importantly, always stay true to yourself. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!"
Bosa also met Trump at UFC events over the years. However, prior to being drafted by the Niners, Bosa admitted to deleting several pro-Trump tweets.
In one tweet that's once again going viral after his MAGA stunt on Sunday Night Football, Bosa called Colin Kaepernick a "clown" after he had started a movement to kneel during the national anthem in a protest against police brutality.
When questioned about scrubbing his public X account before the 2019 Draft, Bosa told ESPN that he "had to" do it in case he ended up with San Francisco.
