NYT bestselling author reveals how Aaron Rodgers’ grandfather saved 10 men as WWII veteran
Aaron Rodgers signed with the New York Jets last season, and ever since then, the four-time NFL MVP has constantly been in the news. He was recently criticized by the media for missing the Jets' mandatory minicamp, and everyone is looking forward to seeing how he performs this year.
4-time NY Times bestselling author Ian O'Connor is releasing a book about the Jets quarterback in August 2024. "Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers," the book's title, will offer a perspective on the quarterback, who has frequently faced criticism for the things he has advocated for in the past.
In a recent post on X, Connor shared details about Rodgers' grandfather, Edward Rodgers, a World War II combat pilot. The author mentioned that Edward Rodgers flew 44 bombing missions against Adolf Hitler's war machine and saved 10 men's lives by flying it back to the American base in Italy.
Rodgers' grandfather was also mistreated as a prisoner of war in Germany. Connor wrote:
"Beaten & mistreated as a POW, Edward Rodgers, ex newspaperman, wrote plays that were acted out by prisoners to entertain German guards for extra rations. He was liberated in 1945."
"His son, Ed Jr., was born 10 years later, and Ed Jr. would ultimately father three boys, including Aaron in 1983. Ed Sr. would die in 1996. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery."
There is no denying that Connor's book on Aaron Rodgers will be worth looking forward to, as many people have always been intrigued by the quarterback's personal life. It's no secret that the 40-year-old NFL legend has a complicated relationship with his family, and it will be interesting to see if we find some details about it in the book that will be released next month.
Aaron Rodgers is under pressure to have a big season for the Jets
Ever since he arrived in New York, expectations have been quite high for Aaron Rodgers. He suffered a devastating season-ending Achilles injury in Week 1 of the last season but is now fully healthy to take the field.
Despite being 40 years old, Rodgers still believes that he can play MVP-caliber football. If the quarterback can win this upcoming season like he did for the Packers, then the Jets have a great chance of winning the Super Bowl. However, if Rodgers doesn't play well, then many people will bring up the fact that he missed the Jets' mandatory minicamp.
As a result, the Jets quarterback needs to have a good season. In his last fully healthy season, Rodgers threw for 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 17 games, for a passer rating of 91.1. The Jets have one of the best defenses in the NFL, and if their quarterback can play at even 70% of the level he used to, it will be tough for any team to beat them.
