Odell Beckham Jr. reveals he suffered major depression after ACL tear during Rams’ Super Bowl-winning run

Throughout his NFL career, Odell Beckham Jr. has been one of the best wide receivers in the league. His career, however, took a dramatic turn in Super Bowl 56 as a member of the Los Angeles Rams.

In the second quarter of the game, the wideout tore his ACL. He had suffered the devastating injury for the second time in his career. Beckham Jr. admitted in a recent interview that he struggled with depression following his injury.

Beckham Jr. said:

“It was tough for me. It was a lot of mixed emotions: The pinnacle of success for my career, I wanted to kill it. Didn’t fully get the opportunity to do it. And then you have a newborn. I had surgery on my knee; I can’t even stand up to hold my son...Major depression.”
My Latest: In early November, I caught up with @obj, and we discussed everything - navigating depression, fatherhood, and finding a forever football home.

One of my favorite interviews of my career thus far. twitter.com/ComplexSports/…

Beckham Jr. added:

“I remember two months after my surgery, I just surrendered to God. This was too much for me to handle, and in that moment, the following days, I found that joy again.”

Lauren Wood, his girlfriend, gave birth to their son, Zydn, four days after the Rams won the Super Bowl. Being a father gave the current free-agent receiver a new purpose in life and emphasized the importance of his legacy.

Beckham Jr. said:

“I look at my little man, and I gotta secure his future. When I was depressed, all I could think about was, I don’t need my son to hear about it, I need him to be able to see this.”

For the three-time Pro Bowler's current NFL future, the question is will we see him on an NFL field this season?

What are the chances that Odell Beckham Jr. will play this season?

OBJ's services are rumored to be heavily in need by one team, the Dallas Cowboys. It was recently reported that a deal was to be done between the team and the former New York Giants star. Yet, it looks like the idea of seeing Beckham Jr. with a star on his helmet is fading fast.

The 2022-2023 regular season is nearing its end as teams gear up for the playoffs. With that being said, which teams that are poised to make the playoffs will sign Odell Beckham Jr. to make a Super Bowl run? With everything that he has endured, we'll see if his journey lands Odell Beckham Jr. with another team for the playoffs.
