Packers legend Brett Favre proposes interesting solution to Green Bay’s problems

Green Bay Packers legend Brett Favre named Jordan Love as a potential solution for the team's lack of kicking depth. After X account, CheeseheadTV stated the team was looking for kicking experience, and Favre stated:

"Let Jordan go for it on 4th down every time," the Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback quote-tweeted.

Love secured a four-year, $220 million deal with the Packers last month. The signing tied him for the highest-paid player in NFL history, with the Jacksonville Jaguar's Trevor Lawrence and the Cincinnati Bengal's Joe Burrow.

Following a 2023 season where he demonstrated his ability to lead the Packers, Love received a big check, and now fans are expecting more of the same in 2024.

With Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Malik Heath, and Bo Melton in the wide receivers room, Love has some intriguing weapons to tear defenses apart in 2024. Moreover, the addition of Josh Jacobs bolstered the Packers' running game, making the offense more dangerous in the NFC.

According to Packers senior writer Wes Hodkiewicz, Greg Joseph beat Anders Carlson in the kicking competition after Carlson missed a 32-yard field goal in the fourth quarter of Saturday's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. Rookie kicker Alex Hale was also waived, but he is still a possibility to join the team's practice squad.

With Joseph as the only kicker on the roster, it's no surprise to see the Packers looking for more options. If that doesn't happen, perhaps Matt LaFleur could take a page out of Dan Campbell's book, and make Jordan Love play as many fourth downs as possible.

Jordan Love says Packers are ready to go before preseason finale vs Ravens

While Green Bay still has roster issues to figure out, Jordan Love said he likes what he saw from the offense before a 30-7 win against the Ravens over the weekend.

“I like where we’re at offensively. I think we’re ready to go, get the season started," he said after joint practice with the Ravens on Thursday.
"I think we were a little sloppy in Denver, just a lot of small details that in the grand scheme of the play kind of dictate whether it’s a good play or not. I think just being locked into all those little details, and we did a great job of doing that today... definitely an emphasis to have a better start.”

Head coach Matt LaFleur's team has exciting potential this season. Green Bay showed glimpses of brilliance last season and can become a bigger sensation in 2024 if momentum is gained sooner than in 2023.
