Packers score record $654,000,000 revenue in 2023 as profits take a 12.5% hit: Report
The Green Bay Packers are one of the NFL's most consistent teams. The franchise has had stellar quarterback play for over three decades and might have struck gold again with Jordan Love.
Hence, unsurprisingly, the franchise smiled to the bank in the 2023 NFL season.
According to Sports Pro Media, the Green Bay Packers made an impressive $654 million for the 2023 NFL season, the highest ever. The franchise enjoyed a $44 million increase from the previous season.
The report states that the team's national revenue was $402.3 million, up 7.5% year-on-year (YoY). Their local income also grew by 6.7% YoY to $251.8 million. Also, the Packers' investment fund reported a gain of $64.3 million.
However, the Packers recorded an operating profit of $60.1 million, which represented a 12.5% hit on the 2022 total of $68.6 million. The reason the operating profit dropped was due to additional expenses, such as infrastructure spending and contractual obligations to players.
The report stated that the Green Bay Packers' increase in national revenue can be attributed to built-in gains from the NFL's broadcast deals and the introduction of new streaming partnerships. The team's local income grew due to the franchise hosting one more preseason game in 2023 and increased sponsorship income.
What to expect from the Green Bay Packers in 2024?
We expect the Green Bay Packers to continue with their stellar performances in 2023. The franchise was one of the better teams in the NFC, posting a 9-8 regular-season record. The team defeated the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC wildcard round before losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.
The Packers will aim for a deeper postseason run in 2024, fueled by more inspired play from Jordan Love and Co. The Packers are one of the stronger teams in the NFC, and they can make some noise in the postseason with the right performances from their players and ample coaching from the staff.
The franchise last enjoyed Super Bowl success a few years ago, but there's reason for optimism with the current group that they've assembled. The NFC has the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions, but those teams are yet to go all the way. Jordan Love and Co. might be the ones to end Patrick Mahomes and Co.'s stranglehold on the Lombardi Trophy.
