Paige Spiranac defends female athletes, using Brady and LeBron as examples
Paige Spiranac is no stranger to online trolls and hate comments. The former professional golfer is known for her candid statements, be it about golf or other areas. While she is often called out for her opinions, Spiranac has mostly stood her ground and stuck to her words.
Earlier this month, the social media star spoke about double standards in the sports industry. In a recent video, Paige Spiranac lashed out at those claiming that female athletes over-sexualize themselves.
During the video, Spirinac ended up mentioning male athletes like Tom Brady and LeBron James who do the same. She tackled people's views directly, disagreeing with those who think women over-sexualize themselves and are not taken seriously:
"I think that is a big stinkin’ pile of s**t. According to Forbes, the top four highest-paid female athletes are Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams, Venus Williams, and Simone Biles".
She continued:
“They have business ventures outside of their sport, and lastly, they have all posed for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. Women, they can actually do it all. Oh I know what you’re thinking, ‘Paige, a man would never ever show off his body for attention or over sexualize himself or do it for a monetary gain.' Hmm, are you sure about that?”
In the end, Spiranac added images of famous male athletes, posing shirtless for one campaign or another. Apart from LeBron James and Tom Brady, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, and Michael Jordan were also included.
Did Paige Spiranac directly call out Tom Brady and other male athletes?
While it might not have been a direct call out of these male athletes, the 29-year-old wanted to prove her point. A few days ago, Spiranac jumped in to defend Olivia Dunne, who attacked for her endorsement choices, and how they were portrayed. While many agreed with her, many also disagreed.
In return, Spiranac posted a video where she stood by her words. Despite her not mentioning any male athlete by name, the golfer and YouTuber has previously called out NFL icon Tom Brady. She has made comments about Brady's divorce, his relationship with Gisele Bundchen at home, and him not really being the GOAT.
Brady's photo came from his promotional content for the Brady Brand, and was posted on multiple social media accounts. Other athletes are also promoting some content, which ultimately had some monetary gain.
Paige Spiranac has also called out people for body shaming her, often speaking of her earlier struggles.
