Pat McAfee unloads on NFL over banned logo fiasco

Former NFL punter Pat McAfee has gone on a four-minute tirade directly aimed at the NFL. Host of The Pat McAfee Show, the 35-year-old has climbed the ladder of the sports media world by being himself and covering the league in a way no one else can.

But now, he seems to have hit a snag, and it's just odd. On his show Tuesday, McAfee said that he received word from the NFL that for some reason, he is not allowed to use the NFL's graphics on his YouTube show. This comes despite him having a contract with NFL Films.

McAfee said:

“I wanted to celebrate everything that was the Professional American Football League. We did so in a fashion I guess we’re not supposed to even though we paid millions and millions of dollars to the league, played in the league, was a nominee to the Hall of Fame of the league, but can’t have any logos on the graphics, because obviously, some lawyer in that building is a f–king dips–t.”

All we’ve EVER wanted to do is celebrate the Professional American Football League…

What is set to happen from today onwards will be interesting, but the former punter made his feelings quite clear on the issue and you can't blame him for being a little ticked off.

Just exactly where this ban on logos came from is unclear, but it certainly smells off. The former punter took to Twitter to then have a sneaky dig at Roger Goodell and his right-hand man, Troy Vincent Sr.

I think we, as a show, have done good for the @NFL right?
I think so too..

@TroyVincentSr @nflcommish, interesting strategy by you and your offices this morning.

Can’t wait to roll out our new style of covering the professional American football league.

It is clear that the 35-year-old is ticked off and he has the right to be, considering that this decision seemingly came out of nowhere (as far as we know).

It makes people wonder why the NFL suddenly decided that the show can't use team logos in their graphics. It would have made more sense to at least do it at the start of his show (even then it would seem odd).

Nevertheless, the show will continue to grow even without the team logos present. It still seems like an odd decision from the NFL and it's likely we will never find out what the reason behind it is.
