Patrick Mahomes has 3-word message after Chiefs QB returns from leg injury and defeats Texans
Patrick Mahomes was listed on the injury report this week for the Chiefs' matchup against the Texans after suffering an ankle injury in their last game against the Browns. He had to leave the field that day and Carson Wentz came in to relieve him. There were some doubts he would come and play in Week 16.
On top of that, the Chiefs were facing the Texans, who had also punched their postseason ticket as the AFC South Champions. Houston had a similar playing style to Kansas City and it was supposed to be a close game. Some predictions even had the visitors winning at Arrowhead.
With the Chiefs sitting at 13-1 prior to this match and the Buffalo Bills two games behind at 11-3, they needed to win to stay ahead. And they did so with a 27-19 victory that saw them climb to 14-1 and close to notching that top spot in the AFC.
Patrick Mahomes had one of his better games with 260 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. He finished with a passer rating of 93.5. After the game, the quarterback was in doubt about who deserved the credit for his injury recovery and this crucial win. He posted on X/Twitter, saying,
"Thank you God!"
Patrick Mahomes also has Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy to thank for Texans win
Patrick Mahomes distributed the ball well and both Samaje Perine and Xavier Worthy got at least 50 receiving yards against the Texans. The wide receiver was the most important player, though, as he caught a full seven of the 28 passes the quarterback threw. He finished with 65 yards and also had the only passing touchdown for Kansas City against Houston.
Patrick Mahomes assuaged Kansas City fans' worries on first drive
Patrick Mahomes also showed that his ankle injury was not at the back of his mind on the very first drive of this game against the Texans. He had two rushes for 27 yards and one foray into the endzone as he caught Houston off guard with his mobility.
Anybody who was depending on the Chiefs quarterback's health being iffy as they tried to make a case against them would have been sorely disappointed. The consecutive reigning Super Bowl champions are going for a threepeat and unless there is an injury that is so serious that it cannot be overcome, Patrick Mahomes will keep powering through minor discomforts and bruises.
