Patrick Mahomes addresses Chiefs winning 8 of 10 games by just one score

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs may have only lost one game during the entire season so far, however, many of the wins have come in very close fashion.

Their usual offensive firepower has been severely lacking this season, and of the 10 games that they've won this season, eight of them were one-score victories.

This is concerning for the regining Super Bowl champions, who are going to attempt a three-peat this year. And Patrick Mahomes isn't unware of it either.

After the team's 30-27 win against the Carolina Panthers, which was only possible thanks to a last-second field goal by Spencer Shrader which broke the 27-27 tie, Mahomes spoke about his team's lack of any major blowout wins.

"You want to have some blowouts, be a little calmer in the fourth quarter. I've always said it could be a good thing as you get to the playoffs and later in the season, just knowing that you have been in those moments before," he said.

He admitted that he'd like to have more blowout wins and rack up a ton of points in the first three quarters so that the final quarter is more relaxed. But Mahomes found the silver lining and said that it would help them prepare as a team for the playoffs so that when they close games with low margins, they would be prepared.

"But I would say this more than anybody, I would love to win a game not by the very last play."

However, he did say that he would love to have more wins with high margins and not have outcomes of games decided by the final plays.

Bill Belichick lauds Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs for late wins

On a recent episode of "The Pat McAfee Show," Bill Belichick spoke about the Chiefs and the Detroit Lions and what it was about them that helped them win games that, according to McAfee, they "aren't supposed to win."

"It's great, a great job by those teams of just finding a way to win," Bill Belichick told Pat McAfee.

He said that the Chiefs defense's abilities to block field goals like they did in Denver or stop the offense like they did with Atlanta Falcons was what was helping them win games even though it seemed like they were going to lose.
