Patrick Mahomes breaks silence as video of Raiders clowning 3x Super Bowl champ with Kermit the Frog doll goes viral
It's been an eventful year for Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs, to say the least. From winning a third Super Bowl in five years to having multiple players arrested over a range of charges to being gifted a history-making WR in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chiefs have had a lot of emotions to deal with this calendar year.
The 2023 season may have ended with the Chiefs lifting the Lombardi but it can all be traced back to their Christmas Day loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Mahomes' Kansas City was handed a wake-up call when Father Christmas came to town and the Raiders handed their behinds to them but ultimately took care of business when it got right down to it. That game averaged 29.6 million viewers, making it the second-most-watched Christmas Day game in NFL history behind the Bengals-Vikings showdown in 1989.
On the Bussin with the Boys podcast, Travis Kelce had this to say about that upset:
"We got our a** beat by the Raiders on Christmas. F**ing ruined Christmas, motherf***ers. Those dudes were ready to brawl out there on the field."
However, it appears the Raiders have not yet gotten over that win over the reigning Super Bowl champions. A video went viral on Thursday, July 25, of a Raiders safety playing with a Kermit the Frog doll at training camp. The catch? The doll had Mahomes' jersey on, a jibe at the three-time Super Bowl champion's voice.
Mahomes though, opted to take the high road but served the Raiders a sly warning over the video. On Friday, after initially dismissing the viral video, he told reporters:
"It will get handled when it gets handled."
But that was not the only time Mahomes talked about Kermit the frog, he's been compared to it in the past. Chiefs star addressed the talks about his voice being compared to Kermit during the Super Bowl LVII Opening Night Event.
Patrick Mahomes braced to take care of business against Raiders in 2024
The Raiders don't have much to play for this year so on the one hand, it probably wasn't wise to provoke the number one quarterback in the league. On the other hand, the Raiders don't have much to play for this year, so why not?
In any case, the Raiders will likely mess around and find out this year since they feature twice on the Chiefs' 2024 schedule. The first of those games will see the Chiefs travel to Las Vegas in Week 8 while the Raiders will travel to Arrowhead in Week 13.
No Christmas Day showdown against the Raiders this time around. Instead, the Chiefs will face the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
