Patrick Mahomes the GOAT? Former NFL star makes bold claim ahead of Super Bowl LVII

Patrick Mahomes is one of the best quarterbacks of this generation and in the NFL right now. He will be competing in his third Super Bowl this Sunday with a chance to win his second as the Kansas City Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles.

While he has a shot at notching his second Super Bowl and possibly second league MVP award, a former NFL star claims that Mahomes will be the GOAT with this Super Bowl victory. The Eagles are currently -1.5 favorites to win over the Chiefs, so this will be no easy task for Mahomes on Sunday.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew said on NFL Network that if Mahomes wins this, crown him as the GOAT.

"So to me, If you win this one..goat. Crown him.”

Mahomes was selected by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft.

He's a three-time All-Pro, five-time Pro Bowler, NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, Super Bowl MVP and has a career passer rating of 105.7.

Tom Brady would still remain the GOAT regardless if Patrick Mahomes wins his second Super Bowl

Regardless of whether Mahomes wins his second Super Bowl this weekend, Tom Brady will remain as the greatest quarterback of all-time.

Mahomes would certainly cement himself as a Hall of Famer if victorious this weekend, but his accomplishments/resume wouldn't stack up to Brady's.

Brady currently has six more Super Bowl victories, four more Super Bowl MVPs, two more league MVPs, and 10 more Pro Bowl selections.

However, with a victory this Sunday, Mahomes could become the youngest QB in history to win multiple Super Bowls. Brady currently owns that record as he was 26 years and 182 days of age when he won his second Super Bowl with the Patriots.

Mahomes will be 25 years and 143 days old this Sunday, and he will be the youngest person ever to reach that milestone.

When the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers, Patrick Mahomes became the youngest Super Bowl MVP at 24 years and 138 days.
