Patrick Mahomes joins other NFL stars in leading tribute for Damar Hamlin

Patrick Mahomes was among a handful of NFL stars with tributes to Buffalo Bills' safety Damar Hamlin following his collapse during Week 17's Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Chiefs play their season finale against the Raiders on Saturday. A win would guarantee the first seed in the AFC for Kansas City.

During warmups, Mahomes was spotted wearing a custom pullover with a heart in front and Damar written on it; there's also a Damar Hamlin photo on his back with 'Hamlin Strong' below.

Chiefs assistant coach Tom Melvin also wore a t-shirt that read 'Love For Damar' with a '3' in the middle; players were also spotted wearing the same shirt during a tribute to Hamlin before the game started.

The Raiders provided a mega-screen outside the Allegiant Stadium in a tribute to the player.

Damar Hamlin's latest update

He continues to show improvement, has talked to his teammates and has face-timed his friends. Although he's out of the tube and has no neuro damage, he remainin critical condition, according to the doctors assisting him.

The Bills' safety suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field after a routine tackle on Bengals' wide receiver Tee Higgins. He had CPR administered by the doctors on the field, which saved his life because of their quick response.

His breathing tube was removed from Thursday to Friday and a touching moment happened before the Bills' Friday practice. Head coach Sean McDermott told players they had a treat in a separate room; once they got in, they were able to talk to Damar via call.

After he first woke up, the safety asked via writing who had won Monday's game, not knowing the seriousness of what had happened. The doctors responded "You won, Damar. You won the game of life". Hamlin has since posted on social media as well.

The NFL has officially declared Monday's game a no-contest and provided different scenarios for the two teams regarding their playoff conditions. While the game was a critical battle regarding seeding and the entire outcome of the AFC, nothing was more important than making sure that the player would be able to survive and live a happy, healthy life.
