Patrick Mahomes' mother Randi reveals why Chiefs QB might not play 'as long as Tom Brady'
Gearing up for a possible three-peat, Patrick Mahomes is undoubtedly on his way to becoming an NFL great. With three titles to his name, many have already started comparing Mahomes' career to Tom Brady's.
Brady, who retired in 2023, played in the NFL for 23 seasons. However, according to Patrick Mahomes' mother, Randi, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback might not have a career as long as Brady's.
While on "The Mom Game Podcast," Randi Mahomes spoke about the Chiefs star's career. As per Randi, her son, who has played seven NFL seasons, might take a step back if it interferes with his family and children.
“I hear him, you know, make comments like, 'If the game takes away from my kids, I might not play as long as Tom Brady' and I'm like I'm so proud of him for that," Mahomes said (Timestamp: 24:32).
Randi talked about how football was the last thing Patrick liked. He played multiple sports, eventually wanting to quit the game. Apparently, he was leaving for college when he told her he would be sticking to football.
Married to his high school sweetheart Brittany Lynne (now Mahomes), Patrick Mahomes has two children: Sterling Skye (three) and Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III (one).
Patrick Mahomes knows when it'll be time to part ways with the NFL
Earlier this year, Patrick Mahomes spoke to Time magazine, discussing his NFL legacy and future. As per the three-time Super Bowl winner, he will prioritize his family.
“I’ve looked," Mahomes said. "If I played until Tom’s age, my daughter would be 19, 20 years old. That would mean missing plenty of youth sporting events and other commitments.
“I would love to play that long. At the same time, I want to be there for my daughter. If I can do that, I'll continue to play. But if I feel like it's taking away from my family time, that's when I'll know it's time to go.”
Currently enjoying his offseason, Brittany Mahomes often shares multiple moments of Patrick enjoying some downtime with his children. As the summer season continues, one can expect to see more family time with the Mahomes.
