Patrick Mahomes reveals wife Brittany Mahomes playing key role in QB's MVP season
It has been a big year for Patrick Mahomes. Not only is he poised to claim his second MVP award, but he is also one game away from returning to the Super Bowl.
A lot of that is naturally due to the fact that he's one of the best and most gifted quarterbacks of all time. Mahomes, however, deflected credit to his wife.
Brittany Mahomes gave birth to the couple's second child during the middle of the season. Ordinarily, that would be a big focus for a father. Mahomes thus credited his wife for stepping up for their family.
The quarterback said:
"Brittany (Mahomes) is taking that mom role to a whole new level. I haven't been home a ton."
Naturally, being an NFL player requires a lot of travel and a lot of dedication. For the season, their focus is almost exclusively on the team and the game. For a young father, this can be difficult.
For Mahomes, it's been much easier thanks to his wife. His MVP level of play is thanks to his incredible gifts, but it's also thanks to the fact that he can truly focus on the game despite everything that's going on in his family life.
Is Patrick Mahomes going to play on Sunday?
The hopes and dreams of Kansas City Chiefs fans took a major hit when Patrick Mahomes limped to the locker room during the Divisional Round. He was able to return, but it was confirmed that he sustained a high ankle sprain.
These normally take weeks to heal, so it's miraculous that he was even able to return to the game. He was heavily taped and is taking it a bit easy during practice this week.
However, he is practicing and says he'll be ready to play on Sunday when Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals come to town.
How effective he will be remains to be seen, but it looks like he'll be suiting up no matter what.
Mahomes has never beaten Burrow. Can that change next week with a huge AFC championship win?
