Patrick Mahomes, Saquon Barkley go wild as Trinity Rodman nails extra-time winner vs Japan
With multiple sports being played at the Paris Olympics, NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Saquon Barkley showed their support for the American Women's Soccer team on Saturday.
After a perfect run in group play, the Americans faced Japan today in the quarterfinals of the Olympics and faced some adversity. With the game in extra time, USA's Trinity Rodman scored the game-winning goal in the 107th minute that sealed the victory.
Mahomes showed his appreciation for the score by sending out an iconic soccer tweet:
"Gooooaaaaalllllllll."
Saquon Barkley also showed his support by quote tweeting the goal with some emojis.
The American's 2-1 victory over Australia set up their match today with Japan. Following their victory, the women's soccer team will face either Canada or Germany in the semifinals.
Where do Patrick Mahomes and Saquon Barkley rank in this year's NFL top 100 players?
The NFL Top 100 players as voted by the players have officially been unveiled as the remaining list was announced yesterday. In a surprise, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill came in at number one overall, the first time a wide receiver has held the top spot.
Patrick Mahomes wasn't too far behind Hill. Mahomes came in at number four, which many people thought was a surprise. Mahomes has been a big part of the Chiefs winning the last two Super Bowls as he was named Super Bowl MVP in both.
Saquon Barkley came in at number 86 overall. The newly acquired Philadelphia Eagles running back is still respected by his peers as one of the top players in the NFL being a veteran back.
With the 2024 NFL season creeping tantalizingly closer, Barkley will be facing his old team, the New York Giants, with one of their biggest rivals. While the Giants didn't do their utmost to keep hold of Barkley, seeing him to Philadelphia was painful for the fanbase.
