Patrick Mahomes, Saquon Barkley, and more NFL stars celebrate Team USA's Olympic basketball gold

The United States men's basketball team defeated France in the gold medal game 98-87 to win their 17th gold medal in men's basketball at the Olympics. France's Victor Wembanyama scored a game-high 26 points, but that wasn't enough to contain the legendary trio of Stephen Curry, LeBron James, and Kevin Durant.

This year's USA team is considered to be the best ever by many. Despite that, Serbia and France played extremely well and treated everyone with a great semi-final and final.

Current and former NFL players celebrated the gold medal by expressing their views on X. Here's how they reacted:

"Absolute chills. A game for the ages", wrote Julian Edelman via X
"Basketball is awesome right now", said Pat McAfee
"Feels like we just witness the birth of a national holiday.", wrote Domonique Foxworth

With the win against France, Kevin Durant won his fourth gold medal at the Olympics. He also holds the record for the most points scored by an American in the Olympics and is now the most decorated basketball player for the USA.

LeBron James also won his third gold medal at the Olympics and scored 14 points in the final while dishing out 10 assists.

Stephen Curry is one of the best players to ever play basketball, but this was his first appearance at the Olympics. He now has a gold medal to his name, and the Golden State Warriors star played a huge role in it.

In the final against France, Curry led the USA with 24 points. He shot 8/13 from three-point range and sealed the game for his team after a valiant effort from the French team.

Curry's performance left NFL stars like Micah Parsons and Saquon Barkley. Here's how they reacted:

"Nahhh!! Steph curry!!!! Is madness!!", wrote Micah Parsons
"Lose your mind then Steph!!", said Ryan Clark
"OMG….CURRY!!!!", wrote Damien Woody

Reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes also celebrated the gold medal by showing support on social media. It will be interesting to see if the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback will play in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, as Flag Football will be included.
