Patrick Mahomes sets timeline for when he will pass Tom Brady’s accomplishments
Patrick Mahomes came into the league like he was shot out of a cannon. After just a few years of dominance, he is being compared to Tom Brady by pundits, analysts, and fans alike. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was even asked about chasing No. 12's accomplishments in the league.
In response, he agreed that his goal was to reach the same heights as his legendary Tampa Bay Buccaneers counterpart. However, he turned heads by saying he will attempt to match Brady's records in record time. Brady played until he was 45 years old. Mahomes aims to catch him before he turns 40.
According to Albert Breer, here is how the 27-year-old quarterback put it:
“I’m trying to catch Tom. But Tom’s a long ways away. You can ask me when I’m like 38 years old.”

Of course, Patrick Mahomes still has at least a full decade of work ahead of him if he intends to catch the most accomplished quarterback of all-time. But just how far does he have to go?

Fro starters, Brady has won seven Super Bowls and has been to ten. He also has the most passing yards in touchdowns in the history of the NFL. He also has the most wins and Pro Bowl selections stacked by any quarterback in the league's history.
He is also the second quarterback in NFL history to win a championship with two different teams.
As it stands, this will be Mahomes' third Super Bowl appearance. He's won the big game once and lost it in the other matchup. He led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl win in 50 years against the San Francisco 49ers in the 2019 season, before losing to Brady and the Bucs the following year.
With a win on Sunday, the quarterback will have two Lombardi Trophies. He would still need five more and of those five, he would need to win one with another franchise.
As for MVPs, the 27-year-old already has one and needs to add another four more to his collection. Brady has 251 wins, 89,214 yards, and 649 touchdowns. Heading into Super Bowl Sunday, the Chiefs quarterback has 64 wins, 24,241 yards, and 192 touchdowns. Put simply, he still has a way to go in just about every category.
