Patrick Mahomes' Stats Tonight: Chiefs QB makes history in Kansas City

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs opened their 2024 season with a dramatic victory against the Baltimore Ravens. In a rematch of the 2024 AFC Championship Game, the Chiefs edged the Ravens by a 27-20 final scoreline.

Mahomes completed 20-of-28 passes for 291 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He also ran for three yards on two carries. Mahomes set history by becoming the all-time passing leader in Chiefs history, surpassing Len Dawson.

Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry scored the game's first touchdown in the first quarter on a five-yard touchdown run with 8:14 left in the quarter. The Chiefs tied it up when rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy scored his first career touchdown on a 21-yard reverse.

The Chiefs took the lead early in the second quarter when kicker Harrison Butker hit a 32-yard field goal. The Chiefs went up by six when Butker hit his second field goal of the half with 5:44 left in the half. The Ravens cut the Chiefs' lead to three with a 25-yard field goal from kicker Justin Kicker with three seconds left in the half. The Chiefs led 13-10.

An Isiah Pacheco touchdown gave the Chiefs a 10-point lead in the third quarter before the Ravens responded with a touchdown from tight end Isiaah Likely.

Mahomes then found Worthy for a 35-yard connection to give the Chiefs a 27-17 lead with 10:25 left in the game. The Ravens were unable to get the potential game-winning drive at the end of the fourth, with Likely catching a pass in the endzone with the seconds running out. However, his foot landed barely an inch over the line ending the game and giving the Chiefs the win.

The Chiefs will look to start the 2024 season 2-0 as they host the Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. Meanwhile, the Ravens will look to avoid an 0-2 start as they host the Las Vegas Raiders next Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.

Before tonight's game, Patrick Mahomes had 28,424 career regular season passing yards. With his 291 passing yards against the Baltimore Ravens, Mahomes is now the all-time leader in passing yards in Chiefs franchise history with 28,715 passing yards.

Mahomes passed Dawson's previous record of 28,507 midway through the second quarter when he connected with tight end Travis Kelce on a 23-yard reception.

With Mahomes needing just 84 passing yards to surpass the record, he now holds that Chiefs franchise record at just 28 years old. Mahomes has also played in 86 fewer games than Dawson, making the milestone even more impressive.

Dawson still holds the record for the most touchdown passes in a single season by a Chiefs quarterback. His 237 passing touchdowns are 17 more than Mahomes' career touchdown passes.
