Patrick Mahomes & Travis Kelce's mansion burglaries explained: Inside $20,000 robbery of Chiefs stars' properties
Kansas City Chiefs superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were reportedly victims of a break-in and robbery in the lead-up to their Monday Night Football clash against the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 7.
According to TMZ's sources, one of the quarterback's bodyguards informed police that there was a robbery at his lavish estate in Belton, Missouri. The report was filed in the early hours of Oct. 6. Mahomes and his family were out the previous night celebrating Kelce's 35th birthday. It's unclear whether anyone was at the property at the time of the incident or if any valuables were stolen.
A day later, burglars broke into Kelce's sprawling mansion in Leawood while the veteran was on the field at Arrowhead Stadium, helping the Chiefs improve to 5-0. According to the police report, the thieves broke in from the back door and stole $20,000 in cash. The tight end's girlfriend, pop icon Taylor Swift, was in attendance to watch her beau in action while the robbery took place.
TMZ reported that the two burglaries were connected and part of a large crime spree in the area. Both incidents are under investigation.
Patrick Mahomes unbothered about the break-in
While Travis Kelce didn't learn of the burglary at his mansion until after the game against the Saints, the break-in at Patrick Mahomes' mansion happened only two days before their game against New Orleans at Arrowhead Stadium.
However, that didn't affect the quarterback. He had his most prolific game of the season. He completed 28 of his 39 pass attempts for a season-high 331 passing yards and rushed for 22 yards on six carries, the second-most he has managed in a game this season. He led the Chiefs to a 26-13 win.
Kelce also had a decent outing, catching nine passes for 70 yards. Neither player has allowed the security breaches at their homes to affect them and has steadfastly led the Chiefs' charge for a three-peat. Kansas City is 9-0, matching their best start to a campaign. They last did it in the 2003 season but did not end the year well.
The Chiefs lost three of their last seven regular-season games and lost 38-31 in the divisional round against the Indianapolis Colts at home. Mahomes and Kelce will try their best to ensure the 2024 team doesn't meet the same feat.
