Patriots WR Jalen Reagor throws shade at franchise after being left out in the cold

Jalen Reagor took to social media to share his thoughts about his status among Patriots wide receivers. A cryptic Instagram photo shows a Bugatti Veyron parked outside a mobile home park, which is used to explain that a player is much better than his current environment. This post could indicate that he felt unhappy with his situation within the franchise, as he was released and then re-signed to the practice squad on August 29.

Reagor has played for the Patriots since 2023, posting poor numbers for then-coach Bill Belichick and now Jerod Mayo. Reagor had seven catches for 138 yards and one touchdown in 11 games in the 2023 season.

Initially drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles as the No. 21 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft, Reagor spent two seasons in Philly before being traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 2022.

in August 2023, the Patriots signed him to the practice squad and then elevated to the active roster on October 26. He was on and off with the Pats, first re-signing with the team in March, then released in August and then re-signed to the practice squad.

Not surprisingly, his tenure with the Patriots ended after his eyebrow-raising Instagram post.

Patriots cut Jalen Reagor after Instagram story

The New England Patriots ended the Jalen Reagor partnership on Tuesday just after 4 p.m., announcing that they released him from the practice squad.

Jalen Reagor started his NFL career with high expectations, as he was the first wide receiver from TCU drafted in the first round since 2016. His career hasn't panned out the way he expected it, but perhaps his exit from the Patriots is the change his career needs.

In his four seasons in the NFL, Reagor has 79 catches for 937 yards and six touchdowns shared between the Eagles, Vikings and Patriots.

Patriots will face the Jets on Thursday night

The New England Patriots have been competitive to start the season, first stunning the Cincinnati Bengals 16-10, which was one of the biggest surprises in Week 1.

The first home game was another thriller that went into overtime to be decided. The Seattle Seahawks won this duel on a 31-yard field goal by Jason Myers, after he hit a 38-yard FG to tie the game at 20.

Jerod Mayo's first season has been solid, but entering Week 3, the season is still young and the Patriots still have work to do to establish themselves as serious competitors.
