People can talk trash all they want - Zach Wilson's mother Lisa lashes out at Jets QB's trolls
The New York Jets may be 4-2 but it isn't stopping people from continuing to troll quarterback Zach Wilson. His mom, Lisa Wilson, shot back at the critics in a recent post on her Instagram stories.
In a video posted to social media, the second-year quarterback out of BYU talked about his experience playing in the National Football League as well as his conversation with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Jets quarterback grew up a huge fan of Rodgers and the postgame conversation, the five-time MVP gave him some words of encouragement.
His mom, Lisa reposted the clip to her own Instagram stories with a caption. She stated that people can 'talk trash' about him but that they don't actually know who he is as a person. She mentions the hard work that he has put in to get to this moment and the sacrifices that their entire family has made for him to pursue his dreams. She concluded by saying that his family knows exactly who he is and that is all that matters.
“People can talk trash all they want. That’s all it is. Nobody knows how hard he has worked and how much he and his entire family have sacrificed for this moment. WE know what an amazing man he is on and off the field and that’s all that really matters.”
Zach Wilson has dealt with the criticism, not just over his talent as a quarterback but, also his personal life. This past summer, a rumor that he had an affair with his mother's friend ran rampant after his ex-girlfriend responded to a comment on social media.
The Jets quarterback has never made a public comment on his personal life or the rumors surrounding it.
Jets QB Zach Wilson addresses Elijah Moore trade rumors
When a player asks his team for a trade, there is typically a backstory. It's a veteran player who is looking for an opportunity to win now and not be a part of a rebuilding team.
For the New York Jets and wide receiver Elijah Moore, that's not the case at all. This week, Moore, a second-year player out of Ole Miss, had a disagreement with offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur and was sent home from practice. Moore then alledgedly asked for a trade from the Jets.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh suggested that the wide receiver take the weekend off away from the team and not make the trip to Denver. The team has said that they aren't actively trying to trade Moore at the moment.
Quarterback Zach Wilson addressed the issue with the media. He said that he wasn't trying to avoid throwing to Moore. He went on to say that he is an important part of the team and their success.
“It’s not a thing where I’m trying to avoid him. He’s a great player, I’m just going thru my progressions. …I love him and I hope he understands that he’s special to our team.”
Moore didn't have a single target in last week's game against the Green Bay Packers. Through the first six games of the 2022 season, Moore had 16 receptions for 203 yards for 29 total targets. Much lower production than what was expected for the wide receiver in his second pro season.
