Pete Carroll predicted to make ‘aggressive push’ for Shedeur Sanders in 2025 NFL Draft

Shedeur Sanders is still a hot topic of discussion in league circles. According to reports, the Colorado quarterback did not practice or play during the East-West Shrine Bowl at the request of three teams: the Tennessee Titans, the Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens, who hold the top three picks in the Draft.

However, that doesn't mean he's locked to be picked by one of these teams. With the 2025 NFL Draft approaching, Sanders' services could appeal to other franchises who might be looking to improve their quarterback room. A clear case is the Las Vegas Raiders.

A new mock by Chris Trapasso published on CBS Sports puts the quarterback on his way to Mark Davis' team. Trapasso's mock predicts a trade where the Raiders, under the leadership of new head coach Pete Carroll, move up to the first overall pick in the draft and get their quarterback of the future:

"We cannot rule out the possibility of the Raiders -- and new minority owner Tom Brady -- making an aggressive push to draft Shedeur Sanders. There's a chance his connection with Brady will make it too dicey for Las Vegas to simply hope and wait for him to fall to No. 6 overall."

Trapasso goes on to praise Sanders' pro-ready processing. He also predicted two other quarterbacks, Cam Ward and Jalen Milroe, to be selected by the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants to close the top 3 picks. The Raiders currently hold the 6th overall pick.

Raiders' two late-season wins took away their chance to select Shedeur Sanders directly

For most of the season, Las Vegas held a top 3 pick, and looked like a good destination to where the quarterback would go. Owner Mark Davis did not hide his appreciation for his game, and the Raiders' need for a quarterback was clear.

However, the team won two meaningless games right before the end of the 2024 season. As a result, they dropped from a probable 2nd overall pick to the 6th overall pick. The Titans, the Browns and the Giants, all teams with quarterback needs, are now picking ahead of the Raiders.

The 2025 quarterback class is considered weaker than in previous years by analysts. Sanders and Ward are the consensus top-two prospects for the position. For Shedeur to end up in Las Vegas, the Raiders will need a trade up.
