Peter King names the one billionaire NFL owners desperately want to see buy Commanders from Dan Snyder

A certain amount of uncertainty now looms over the future of the Washington Commanders. This has been the case since Forbes reported that owner Dan Snyder hired Bank of America Security to explore a potential sale of the franchise. The news comes as no real surprise due to the amount of controversy surrounding their owner and their daily operations.

With Snyder now looking to sell, the Commanders will most likely have a new owner at the helm by the start of next season. While there are plenty of names being floated around as potential successors to Snyder, one name has garnered more attention than the others.

NFL insider Peter King noted this during his recent appearance on the Pro Football Talk podcast:

"There’s a reason why the NFL was so aggressive in pursuing Amazon as the streaming partner for Thursday night. It is a very simple reason and a very simple fact of life in the NFL... NFL owners like the richest men in the world. They just do."

King here is obviously talking about Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Regularly ranked among one of the richest men in the world, Bezos has been linked with a franchise takeover ever since the offseason. King thus elaborated on why he believes the NFL is desperate to see him takeover:

"When there is one out there, who has some interest in joining your club in some way, the welcome mat goes out. And the welcome mat goes out so aggressively that it’s just logical to think that the NFL would want Jeff Bezos to buy the team."

Amazon has already made headway in the league with its coverage of TNF. Now a takeover of the Commanders would be the final step in welcoming Bezos to the NFL family.

Is Jeff Bezos preparing to launch bid for Commanders alongside Jay Z?

While the NFL is rife with speculation of Jeff Bezos taking over the Commanders, another interesting name has been mentioned as part of a potential takeover bid.

As per People magazine, Jay-Z is also apparently looking at the Commanders and might consider launching a joint bid with Bezos to take over the franchise.

If Snyder does decide to go ahead with the sale, he'll find himself $5 billion richer thanks to the $4.7 billion valuation of the franchise. That, of course, would be pocket change for the Amazon founder, who according to Forbes currently has a net worth of a whopping $113.4 billion.
