Peyton Manning makes feelings clear on QB market approaching $60,000,000-a-year deals after Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert’s paydays

Pro Football Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning is one of the best quarterbacks of all time and is one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in NFL history. Manning spent 18 seasons in the NFL, having a lot of success in the league and winning two Super Bowls with two different teams.

In his 18 seasons, he's earned $249 million on the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos, as per Spotrac. Recently, quarterback contracts have been going through the roof, with stars signing record-breaking deals.

Manning spoke about the quarterback market on the Pat McAfee Show.

Manning said:

“I understand older quarterbacks that maybe didn’t (get the big contracts). But Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, they paved the way for my generation. Now it’s Brady and Brees and Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert and Lamar. I’m for it. Just keep growing the game. We need great quarterbacks in the league. It makes the game better. All positions need to get better. I’m pro-current players all the way.”

Last off-season, four quarterbacks got paid $50 million or more annually in the off-season with extensions.

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson signed a 5-year $260 million contract with $185 million guaranteed. Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Hurts signed a five-year $255 million contract with $179.3 million guaranteed.

Los Angeles Chargers' Justin Herbert got a 5-year $262 million contract with $218.7 million guaranteed. Joe Burrow became the highest-paid player in NFL history when the Cincinnati Bengals awarded him a 5-year $275 million contract with $219 million guaranteed.

The trend continued this off-season, with Jared Goff and Trevor Lawrence receiving monster contacts. Goff received a four-year $212 million extension as Lawrence signed a five-year $275 million contract.

Who will be the next QB to receive a contract extension?

With Trevor Lawrence and Jared Goff each getting contract extensions eclipsing $50 million per year, other teams that are due to extend their quarterbacks are looking to do that as soon as possible.

Like the wide receiver market, the quarterback market has increasingly grown in the last few seasons, with players signing record-setting deals. A few QBs are due for contract extensions this off-season, including Jordan Love, Tua Tagovailoa and Dak Prescott.

With Lawrence getting a contract extension worth $55 million per season, many think Love, Tagovailoa and Prescott could receive contract extensions north of $60 million per season.

The Cowboys, Packers and Dolphins are hopeful they will reach extensions with their quarterbacks this off-season. Who do you think will be the next highest-paid QB in the NFL?
