Peyton Manning teases next project following successful run with Netflix's 'Receiver' and 'Quarterback'

Last year, Netflix and former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning introduced the series 'Quarterback', which became an instant success on the streaming platform. Now, the legendary former QB has given a hint about his next project.

'Quarterback', produced by Manning, Omaha Productions and 2 PM Productions, chronicled the day-to-day lives of leading NFL quarterbacks.

This summer, Manning and Netflix followed up with another season of the series, but this time followed the lives of NFL wide receivers in a spin-off titled 'Receiver'. This show follows the lives of NFL wide receivers Justin Jefferson, Davante Adams, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle.

Like Quarterback, Receiver became the No. 1 show on Netflix briefly before it was dethroned a few days ago with Viking Valhalla. With the success the series has received with its large audience, Manning said he's been brainstorming what position should be featured next year.

"I'm all for growing the game and if this brings more interest to the game, it's a good thing," Manning said on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday. Netflix, people are watching the show all over the US and outside the country, and NFL films are obviously the best partner to help make these things happen and the trust they have with the players and the coaches.
"So, we're hoping to do another series next year and we're deciding what position to do next. Punters are in play, not super high on the list compared to maybe some of the other positions but we'll see."

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, the show's host and Peyton Manning spoke about a number of relevant topics in the NFL.

One topic the two discussed was how much quarterbacks are being in today's game. In the last two off-seasons, six quarterbacks (Trevor Lawrence, Jared Goff, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert) have gotten contract extensions worth more than $50 million per season.

The price tag on the position keeps increasing, and Manning thinks it's good for the NFL.

“I understand older quarterbacks that maybe didn’t (get the big contracts). But Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, they paved the way for my generation. Now it’s Brady and Brees and Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert and Lamar. I’m for it. Just keep growing the game. We need great quarterbacks in the league."

Lawrence and Goff became the two newest members of the $50+ million contract club this off-season. There are still quarterbacks such as Jordan Love, Tua Tagovailoa and Dak Prescott who are due for new contracts this off-season.

Could the next QB contract surpass $60 million per season?
