Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert sets expectations for De’Von Achane after promising rookie season - “He has to build”
The Miami Dolphins had one of the best backfields last season in the NFL with the duo of Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane.
Mostert, who was playing in his ninth season, had a career resurgence. Achane himself had one of the most explosive seasons of any player ever in their rookie campaign.
Mostert led the charge in the Dolphins' backfield, rushing for a career-high 1,012 yards and a league-leading 18 rushing touchdowns. He also added three receiving touchdowns on 175 receiving yards. Achane rushed for 800 yards on 103 carries, setting the NFL record for highest average yard per carry in a single season (7.8).
Mostert appeared in Meriden, Connecticut, this past weekend, helping out fellow teammate Tyreek Hill host a youth football camp at Francis T. Maloney High School.
Sportskeeda was present at the event and interviewed Mostert, who expects more from Achane this season after the numbers he put up in 2023.
"It was pretty exciting. I'm happy for him especially since he started off on a good foot in his rookie campaign, but he has to build. He has to build and grow and that's what he's going to be able to do this year. So, I'm excited for him."
Collectively, Mostert and Achane combined for 1,812 rushing yards on 312 carries and scored 26 rushing touchdowns. In the receiving game, they combined for 52 receptions for 372 yards and six receiving touchdowns.
This off-season, the Dolphins added wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., tight end Jonnu Smith and wide receiver Braxton Berrios to their offense. They're expected to have one of the top offenses this upcoming season.
Raheem Mostert said he will be hosting his first football camp in his hometown next summer
Raheem Mostert got a call from his teammate, Tyreek Hill, a.k.a the 'Cheetah', to help out with his football camp that he held in Connecticut this past weekend. Mostert said it was an opportunity he couldn't pass up and looked forward to giving back to the kids and the community of Connecticut.
When asked if he has any plans of hosting any football camps himself, Mostert replied that he's in the process of hosting one next summer in his hometown of New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
"I'll be starting my first camp in hometown next year, a little bit earlier than now, next year or so. I'm excited about it. We already have it in the works."
Mostert is entering Year 10 of his NFL career this season with the Miami Dolphins. Last season, they made the playoffs as a wildcard team but fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the post-season.
Do you think Raheem Mostert and the Miami Dolphins can make a deep playoff run in 2024?
