Raiders HC Antonio Pierce has 4-word message after potentially losing out on No. 1 pick in 2025 NFL Draft
On Sunday, Antonio Pierce and the Las Vegas Raiders finally snapped their 10-game losing streak with a 19-14 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Allegiant Stadium. They improved their record to 3-12 on the season.
Running backs Ameer Abdullah and Alexander Mattison scored a touchdown each, while rookie tight end Brock Bowers caught 11 passes for 99 yards to help their team end the league's longest losing streak since the Jaguars' run of 20 straight losses across the 2021 and 2022 season.
While the victory provided some much-needed relief to head coach Antonio Pierce, it also saw the Raiders drop from the top of the 2025 NFL draft board to sixth. Las Vegas hoped that their seemingly never-ending suffering would at least yield them the top pick and a franchise quarterback.
However, the odds of that happening have significantly lowered following their win over the Jaguars. But Pierce is unbothered about it. When the head coach was asked what his message was for Raiders fans who were hoping the team would lose their remaining three games and pick first in the draft, he said:
"Talk to [Raiders general manager] Tom Telesco."
NFL Draft Order 2025: Raiders' loss is Giants' gain
With the Raiders dropping to sixth in the draft order following their victory over the Jaguars, the 2-13 New York Giants now hold the top pick.
Four other teams — the New England Patriots, Jacksonville, Tennessee Titans, and Cleveland Browns — have a 3-12 record like Las Vegas. However, their strength of schedule is weaker than the Raiders', which is why Las Vegas is below them in the draft order.
The Giants are currently set to use their first-round pick on a quarterback. Colorado Buffaloes star Shedeur Sanders is expected to be the first signal-caller taken off the board. Shedeur's father and coach, Deion Sanders, claimed last week that the Giants would select Shedeur if they ended up with the No. 1 pick.
All six teams have two games left on their schedule and a win for any of them could significantly alter the draft order. For now, the Giants are in prime position to pick Sanders, while the Raiders will likely have to pick Miami Hurricanes star Cam Ward or another quarterback still on the board.
