Raiders owner Mark Davis makes feelings known over Tom Brady's $375,000,000 career
Raiders majority owner Mark Davis has shared his take on Tom Brady's broadcasting career. Brady may have traded in his cleats for oxfords, but we're still seeing a lot of him this season.
The New England Patriots legend landed a job with Fox this summer, one that pays him a cool $375 million over a period of 10 years, a figure that surpasses Brady's career earnings in the NFL.
That job in the broadcasting booth raised a few eyebrows, given the fact that he's also a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. In what appears to be a bit of a conflict of interest, the NFL reportedly laid down ground rules preventing the seven-time Super Bowl champion from having unrestricted access to other teams' meetings during production.
In an interview with reporters this week, Davis shared his thoughts over Tom Brady's role in the broadcasting booth. He told the Las Vegas Review Journal that the franchise respects Brady's role with Fox Sports.
“Obviously, I talk to him all the time, and his input is greatly valued and will always be valued,” Davis said when asked for his thoughts on Brady's new job.
How much of the Raiders does Tom Brady own?
Tom Brady is the owner of 5% of the Las Vegas Raiders. In May 2023, along with Knighthead Capital Management co-founder Tom Wagner, the pair agreed a deal to purchase a 10% stake in the NFL franchise. It took NFL owners roughly 17 months to give the deal the green light.
However, given he has a role in the broadcasting booth and a seat at the owners' table, the league later placed some restrictions on Brady's day job. As a result, the NFL legend isn't allowed to attend production meetings, either in person or virtually. He's also prohibited from accessing team facilities or coaching personnel.
Tom Brady is allowed to broadcast Raiders games but cannot publicly criticize officialls and other franchises.
In any case, it appears that Brady will have a big role to play with the Raiders in the coming years. The franchise is staring at a rebuild and are all but guaranteed to have a top-3 pick in April.
The likelihood is that they will draft their franchise quarterback with that lottery pick. Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Miami's Cam Ward are seen as candidates to land with Brady's franchise.
