Raiders should target Aaron Rodgers and not Tom Brady for 2023 season

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is currently mulling over his playing future, and should he not return to Wisconsin, the Las Vegas Raiders present a good option.

Along with Rodgers, seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady is also in the same boat. Likely not to return to Tampa Bay, the Raiders have been linked with both veteran quarterbacks over the last few weeks.

Who are the current Super Bowl favorites?

So, if the Raiders have a choice between Rodgers and Brady as their next quarterback, which way should the franchise lean? Both present good options, but if we dive a little deeper, there is a clear winner in who Las Vegas should woo.

Per @AdamSchefter, the #Packers won’t trade Aaron Rodgers within the NFC. If he is traded, it will be to an AFC team. Raiders, Jets ... the ball is in your court.

Let's take a look at three reasons why the Raiders should go with Rodgers over Brady.

#3, Rodgers is younger

The Green Bay quarterback has six years on Brady. Rodgers is 39, while Brady is 45. If the Raiders went down the Brady route, one could argue that it would only be for one season.

We can imagine a world where Brady would spend the next two to three years with the franchise. The four-time MVP, however, could conceivably give Las Vegas two years of quality quarterback play.

Granted, at the end of each season, the Packers star is always weighing up his options, but he would offer more long-term security than Brady.

#2, The Rodgers/Adams connection

This alone could be enough for the Raiders to put all its chips into trying to secure the 39-year-old. The connection between quarterback and receiver is one of the most important things in the game.

When it comes to Rodgers and receiver Davante Adams, when in Green Bay, there was no better connection in the NFL. In three of his last four years with the Packers, Adams finished the season with over 1,300 receiving yards and over 10 touchdowns.

That'll work, and with a host of other weapons, the linkup could be just as dangerous in Las Vegas.

#1, Rodgers is better than Brady right now

Now this will be up for debate for a lot of people, but Rodgers likely just shades Brady in what he can offer the Raiders at the quarterback position. Many may point to the 39-year-old's poor season this year, but Brady didn't have a great one, either.

Surrounded by rookies, after a bumpy start, the Packers nearly got into the playoffs, while the Buccaneers, with veterans on offense, limped in and got blown off the field by the Dallas Cowboys.

With a host of veteran stars on offense, the Packers star could be the one to take full advantage of that.
