Randy Moss encourages Davante Adams to reunite with Jets QB Aaron Rodgers to chase Super Bowl: "Go back with your quarterback"
It is no surprise that the New York Jets wanted to reunite star wide receiver Davante Adams with his former quarterback Aaron Rodgers last year. The Las Vegas Raiders were not interested in doing business. But NFL icon Randy Moss has encouraged Adams to join forces with Rodgers this year in hopes of chasing a Super Bowl victory.
Moss was a guest on Monday's episode of the "Up & Adams" show, hosted by Kay Adams. He said that there's no reason why Adams should not go ring chasing at this point in his career. Moss mentioned that the Raiders stand no chance to even compete with the reigning Super Bowl champs, Kansas City Chiefs, in their division.
"I really don't see why he (Davante Adams) should not chase a ring," Moss said. "I think that he's made all his money, he's made enough money. If he has an opportunity to get it, I don't think he has had an opportunity to be in the big game yet... I don't know if the Raiders, I mean, hell they're in the same division with the Kansas City Chiefs. So I don't see a ring in their near future."
Moss continued, explaining that while he doesn't understand how the salary cap would look to bring in Davante Adams, he would love to see the reunion happen. He said that joining forces with Rodgers, with whom Adams has had some great moments in his career, would be a great fit.
"So if he needs to chase a ring and get out of there, I mean what would it look like back with Aaron Rodgers? ... If it's any fit, speaking about a guy like Davante Adams, go back with your quarterback man, in Aaron Rodgers, they made some great things happen. I mean, that would look good for him at the Jets."
Davante Adams-Aaron Rodgers reunion in New York is certain to happen, says ex-Jets QB
Last week, Davante Adams appeared on the "Up & Adams" show and said that Aaron Rodgers has been "in his ears" about potentially reuniting in New York. The next day, Rodgers, who was participating in a golf tournament at South Lake Tahoe, Nevada, was asked a similar question. The four-time MVP supercharged the speculation by saying that he couldn't wait to play with Adams, "again."
On Monday, former New York Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason discussed Adams' future and set timeline for Las Vegas Raiders WR's potential move to New York. According to Audacy, the ex-NFL MVP said:
"The dead cap for the Raiders this year is $40 million [if they traded him]. I’m hearing that this is gonna happen - if it does happen - in late August or early September,” Esiason said. “And the cap hit for him is $25 million."
Esiason continued:
"I’m not sure about why it would take that long, but Davante is never going to come out publicly and say ‘I want to leave the Raiders.’ But you hear in this [Netflix] ‘Receiver’ program, where he says ‘I gotta get out of here before I get killed.'"
While Esiason is certain that the New York Jets can bring in Davante Adams, he thinks the addition of the six-time Pro Bowl WR could cause locker room problems.
