"This is disgusting" - Randy Moss' son shuts down viral fake news on NFL legend’s battle with cancer
Randy Moss scared NFL fans when he announced during December 1's episode of Sunday NFL Countdown that he was dealing with a health issue. Now, his son Thaddeus has come forward to dispel a recent false notion about it.
After fellow former wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald's father claimed on Tuesday that said health issue was liver cancer, Thaddeus responded by denying it. He also called the report 'disgusting."
"This is disgusting. You have no right to try to make private matters public for the sake of engagement. I do not believe my father talks to you, so check your sources," he tweeted.
Thaddeus also responded to a tweet by Brett Favre in which the former NFL quarterback expressed support for Moss.
"Brett, the support is appreciated, truly. This is not true. My father will address the world when he is ready to."
Moss is currently on leave from his program. The network issued the following statement:
“Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating Countdown with his insight and passion. We look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”
What did Randy Moss say about his health issue?
In the aforementioned episode on Dec. 1, Randy Moss can be seen putting on rose-tinted glasses as he says:
“I just want to let the viewers know that me and my wife, me and my family, we are battling something internally. I couldn’t miss the show. I wanted to be here with you guys.”
The rest of the crew would also put on glasses in his honor.
The Hall-of-Famer had also addressed the issue in an Instagram video made just before he went live on TV:
“I’ve been battling something internal throughout the holidays. I ask for all the prayer warriors to put blessed hands on me and my family during these hard times. It’s something internal, but I have a great team of doctors… and we gon’ work through.”
Later in the day, his former New England Patriots teammate Tom Brady also touched on the topic during Fox NFL Sunday:
"One of the all-time great teammates and friends, in touch to this day. Our heart obviously is with you, our prayers, all our positive energy. We love you so much, man."
Moss would also be greeted by former tight end Rob Gronkowski (the two were teammates in Foxboro for four games in 2010).
