Ravens trade rumors: $72,000,000 WR heads to AFC giants as upgrade to offensive arsenal, proposes NFL analyst
The Baltimore Ravens are back on track after a 0-2 start to the season. Led by Lamar Jackson and newcomer Derrick Henry, the Ravens turned things around and are now the team that many thought they would be before the start of the season.
With the trade deadline looming, Baltimore is linked with a couple of moves to bolster its ranks. They have a terrific offense, but adding a veteran wide receiver wouldn't hurt. Per Jacob Camenker of USA Today, the Ravens would be a good fit for Christian Kirk, who signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2022.
"The Jacksonville Jaguars are 2-5 and could decide to trade one of their receivers as they continue to remain out of contention. Jacksonville spent a first-round pick on Brian Thomas Jr. during the offseason and signed Gabe Davis to a three-year contract, so Kirk would be the most sensible one of their receivers to trade."
He adds that the team would get another receiver lacking size (5'11) in Kirk, but that wouldn't be an issue if they have Mark Andrews and Isiah Likely to make up for the lack of size in the wide receiver room. Kirk would be an upgrade over Nelson Agholor and his age could also be appealing to the Ravens.
The Baltimore Ravens offense leads the NFL in several categories this season
After landing Derrick Henry in free agency, Baltimore was considered a strong favorite to clinch the No. 1 seed in the AFC again and a serious candidate to make it to the Super Bowl.
They are a well-oiled machine that leads the league in several stats, especially with their rushing game.
Baltimore leads the NFL in total yards (3,230) and yards per game (461.4). They rank third in total passing yards (1,754) and fifth in passing yards per game (250.6). In total rushing yards, they rank first (1,476) and rushing yards per game (210.9). Their 218 total points and 31.1 points per game are tied for the top spot with the Jayden Daniels-led Washington Commanders.
Adding Christian Kirk would make this offense more dangerous and would put them in a strong position for the second part of the 2024 season. With the Kansas City Chiefs still finding ways to win and keep their unbeaten run, perhaps landing Kirk could pay off for John Harbaugh's team in a potential playoff run.
