Ricky Pearsall injury update: Latest on 49ers WR for fantasy football Week 4
The San Fracisco 49ers bolstered their already deep wide receiver room when they drafted Ricky Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Pearsall, a quick slot receiver out of Florida, was selected 31st overall in the draft after amassing 65 receptions for 965 yards and four touchdowns in 2023.
Looking to make an impact on an offense that features wide receivers Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and Jauan Jennings, Pearsall's season debut took a delay after a scary incident occurred involving him getting shot.
On August 31, 2024, a little over a week from the 49ers' season opener against the New York Jets, Pearsall was shot at Union Square, in San Francisco. A 17-year-old from Tracy, California attempted to steal Pearsall's Rolex watch, and shot Pearsall in the chest.
Pearsall didn't suffer any life-threatening injuries, but has been sidelined since the incident. He was put on the NFI (Non-football injury) list before the start of the season.
Ricky Pearsall update: When is Ricky Pearsall expected to make his NFL debut?
Since Ricky Pearsall was placed on the NFI list, the earliest he can return is after Week 4. San Francisco general manager John Lynch joined KNBR this morning and provided a positive update on Pearsall's health.
He said that all signs are pointing to Pearsall practicing next week. Still, there is no timetable on when he will return.
David Lombardi, a reporter covering the 49ers, tweeted:
"John Lynch on KNBR said that all signs indicate that the 49ers will open Ricky Pearsall's practice window next week."
There's a possibilty that Pearsall could play next week with him expecting to be back practicing, but the 49ers will likely monitor his situation very closely.
The San Francisco 49ers will look to get back in the win column this week against the New England Patriots
A month ago, not many fans would have thought the San Francisco 49ers would be 1-2 through their first three games. The defending NFC champs have suffered a ton of injuries thus far, with Christian McCaffrey beginning the season on injured reserve.
After defeating the New York Jets to begin the season, the 49ers have dropped two in a row to the Minnesota Vikings and the Los Angeles Rams, respectively.
This Sunday, playing at home at Levi's Stadium, the 49ers have a good chance to improve to 2-2 as they take on the 1-2 New England Patriots.
Kickoff is set for 4:05 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcasted by FOX. Who do you think will win?
