Rob Gronkowski hilariously reveals how he passed out during Patriots pre-draft visit after partying too hard
Rob Gronkowski is one of the greatest tight ends of all time and is also one of the biggest partiers in NFL history. Gronk is known to have a good time off the field and is a big partier (like many of us) who enjoys drinking when the circumstances are right — and sometimes wrong.
The former tight end spoke with Jason Tartick and recalled his horrendous visit with the New England Patriots during the draft process.
Gronk recalled how he was so drunk during the Patriots' pre-draft process that he passed out while having a terrible interview and meeting with the team.
Gronkowski said:
"I partied super hard one night, this was one of my mistakes. I partied at the University of Arizona one night and got absolutely hammered and had to jump on the flight the next day, and start this whole tour. So, I already put myself in the bag. So i'm on this tour, I'm falling asleep, I'm hungover, I'm visiting all these teams, and I got to New England and I'm cashed."
"I was like whatever team takes me, whatever round I go, whippy-doo. Like, I'm over this situation and process. I show up and I'm like I don't give a flying sh** no more, I'm just gonna let it be, I'm just gonna let it fly."
Gronkowski went on to say that after his process with the Pats, he had two thoughts: either the team would cross him off their list instantly, or they would draft him. By drafting him, it paid dividends on both sides.
Rob Gronkowski went on to have one of the best careers ever for a tight end with the Patriots
While Gronk thought there would be a chance that the Patriots wouldn't draft him because of how the meeting went, they went on to draft him in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft.
He won three Super Bowls with the Patriots in 2010 and become one of the greatest tight ends of all time.
He was named to the Pro Bowl five times while making the All-Pro team four times. He holds the NFL record for most touchdowns in a single season for a tight end (18) and has the most career receiving touchdowns in Patriots franchise history. He retired with 621 receptions, 9,286 yards, and 92 touchdowns.
