Robert Griffin III names seven quarterbacks he would take over Jordan Love including Josh Allen

Jordan Love spent the last two weeks of his inaugural starting season giving his best Aaron Rodgers impression. He defeated the Dallas Cowboys in a big spot and then slipped against the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs. However, that has been enough for many fans to elevate the quarterback into the elite tier ahead of 2024. That said, one analyst has reservations.

Speaking on Monday's edition of "Get Up," NFL analyst Robert Griffin III named seven quarterbacks he'd rather have, including some surprising names.

[00:04:10] "But I'm not taking him over Patrick Mahomes, I'm not taking him over Lamar Jackson, I'm not taking him over Josh Allen, I'm not taking him over Joe Burrow, Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, the list goes on and on," Griffin said.

So, not only did he name seven quarterbacks he would take over Love, but he also kicked the door open that there were more beyond that. As such, one might comfortably place the Packers quarterback outside the top 10 on Griffin III's list.

This serves as potential ammunition for the quarterback as he heads into a prove-it year in the NFL. With teams now getting a larger sample size of the quarterback's strengths and weaknesses, they can make Love play with one hand tied behind his back. The question is whether he will play as well, working off his second bag of tricks.

The Green Bay Packers might land closer to Griffin III's assessment of Love, considering the two sides are still in the process of working through contract talks. If it feels like Jordan Love just went through contract talks with the team, that's because he has.

Heading into the 2023 season, the Packers handed him an unconventional two-year deal that concludes at the end of 2024. However, with the deal already entering its twilight, Love is hoping for more security in the future.

With the Packers taking the slow road, the numbers might be lower than Love was hoping for.

From Jared Goff to Trevor Lawrence, several quarterbacks are now making $50 million per season in the NFL courtesy of extensions signed this offseason. At face value, that might be a reasonable projection for Love. However, much is unknown about the quarterback's career arc as he hasn't had multiple years in the league.

Currently, $50 million might be asking too much unless it is a short-term one or two-year deal. Love has proved he can get into the elite game, but can he stay there? If he can answer this question, a $50 million salary over the next four or five years could be in order. However, until the question about Jordan Love's longevity is answered, any massive expense is a gamble of epic proportions.

Will the Green Bay Packers take the massive risk?
