Robert Saleh brushes off rumors of rift with Aaron Rodgers amid cadence controversy

Aaron Rodgers said the New York Jets needed to focus on winning more and avoiding distractions, but it seems that everything about their quarterback turns into a soap opera - not always through any fault of his own, as it is in the recent case with head coach Robert Saleh.

The Jets committed five false starts during Sunday's rainy game against the Denver Broncos, and they were upset 10-9, hurting their chances in the division. After the game, Saleh spoke about needing to find out whether the team could handle all of the quarterback's cadences.

Rodgers hit back, saying that "adjusting the cadence was one way to do it, but to hold [the team] accountable was another". One could expect a fire to start between player and coach, but Saleh took the high [and smart] road to deny there was any issue with his star player:

"There is no cadence issue. There never was a cadence issue. That was created. Aaron and I are fantastic. Love the guy."

It wasn't the best-ever performance for the quarterback, but the Jets know they have a superstar after watching Rodgers play on Thursday Night Football against the New England Patriots the previous week. It's a long season, so they'll have plenty of time to figure out their issues before the toughest part starts.

Rodgers, Jets to play in London in Week 5

As part of the NFL's International Games, the quarterback and the team will travel to the United Kingdom to face the undefeated Minnesota Vikings, who are led by Sam Darnold, a former first-round pick from the Jets.

Although Darnold has played lights out during the 2024 season, it was clear that the best thing for the Jets at the time of his trade was to let him go. He simply didn't develop quickly enough for them to still trust the guy - and well, ending with Aaron Rodgers is also a good thing.

This will be the second international game for the league in 2024. The Green Bay Packers and the Philadelphia Eagles opened their seasons in São Paulo, Brazil, as the Eagles won 34-29.
