"Russell Wilson, you're beginning to p*ss me off": Stephen A Smith goes nuclear on Steelers QB

Russell Wilson has amazed several players, fans, and analysts throughout the years with his talent and skill on the field. However, the same can't be said in the last few years.

The Denver Broncos earlier this year cut Wilson from their roster despite being almost $85 million in deficit for his salary cap. After that, the 35-year-old signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers and will now have to compete for a starting position for the first time in his pro career.

During the preseason games, Wilson and his competition, Justin Fields, have been below par. The same case is being argued for the entire Steelers offensive unit. Despite that, Wilson stated recently that he isn’t worried. This sent Stephen A. Smith boiling and he did not spare the QB on his ESPN show ‘First Take’.

“Russell Wilson, you're beginning to piss me off," said Smith. “Somebody got to say it. So, I'm going to say it. Listen, you stunk last year. The Denver Broncos is willing to eat nearly $38 million to get rid of you. And you sitting there fighting for a starting job with Justin Fields.”
“You ain't fighting for no starting job with Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson or somebody. It's Justin Fields just for a starting with and he's sitting there with some smile on his face, talking about, everybody that needs to relax.”

Smith further pointed out to Russell Wilson that this is a battle for his career, and he must get serious about it. After this second chance to prove himself, his opportunities will dwindle from here on.

What did Russell Wilson say about the Steelers’ offense?

After two low-scoring defeats, the Steelers fanbase has been disappointed with the offense. However, during an interview with ‘Penn Live’ on Wednesday, Russell Wilson stated he did not share those sentiments.

“Absolutely not”, Wilson said about worrying of defensive capabilities. “Because the reason being, as I told you guys, is the level of practices we’ve had against one of the best defenses every day.”
“And how we’ve shown up there. So, I think the best thing that we can do is just slow our minds down, play really clean football, and also to enjoy the process.”

The Steelers next take on the Detroit Lions for their final preseason game on Saturday. Russell Wilson will be playing in this game.
