Russell Wilson honors his late father Harrison's legacy with $50,000 donation toward Boys & Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania

Russell Wilson has credited the impact of his father Harrison Wilson III’s teaching on his successful career and life. Wilson is a longtime proponent of his father’s mantra ‘Why not you?’ He stuck to it as he made a generous donation toward the upliftment and betterment of the country’s youth.

Wilson’s late father was a collegiate athlete and a prominent attorney who died from complications related to diabetes in 2010.

“My father instilled a ‘Why not you?’ attitude in me. Asking myself that every day since has gotten me where I am today,” The Pittsburgh Steelers QB once said regarding his father.

In the same spirit, Wilson started a non-profit organization ‘Why Not You’ in 2014. On Sunday, the 2014 Super Bowl winner donated $50K through his organization to the 'Boys & Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania.’ The organization has been instrumental for youth since its founding in 1888.

On Instagram, Wilson announced his organization’s partnership with the 'Boys & Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania.' The nine-time Pro Bowler shared several snippets of the program on his Instagram stories.

On Saturday, Wilson remembered his father, who passed away 14 years ago on the same day.

Russell Wilson has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania

The Boys & Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania has several chapters. Russell Wilson worked with the organization at his third location as a pro footballer. He had worked with the organization before coming to Pittsburgh and before they were partners.

In 2014, a football signed by Wilson was actioned off by the club. In 2015, Wilson donated his time with the children at the club, per the club’s official website.

However, now that Wilson has partnered up with the club through his charitable organization, fans expect him to spend more time and money with the club.
