Russell Wilson’s Broncos are damned, claims Richard Sherman after Denver’s wretched start to the season
Things aren't going as planned for Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos. They lost their third straight game after failing to beat the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football. Problems have been persistent for the Broncos, and Richard Sherman believes that it's going to be very tough to fix the franchise.
Here's what he said on the Richard Sherman podcast:
"I'm not sure there's a fix to be had, you paid the quarterback the money, you have to let the quarterback play. But the system that the quarterback was in Seattle is a system he's comfortable with. And that's why they knew him. Everybody said Pete Carroll is holding him back."
He continued:
"No, they knew him best. They knew how to put them in positions to be successful. They knew when he was struggling, how to get him back in rhythm. That's what good coaching is. This coaching staff does not know how to do that."
Sherman concluded by saying:
"You can tell there's frustration, you know, they had higher expectations. They had goals and aspirations coming into the season, especially in that division. They said they're a quarterback away and they got the quarterback and things still aren't going their way and that's where the concern is for that locker room…”
It cost the Broncos a lot to bring in Russell Wilson, and things aren't looking much different in Denver now than they did last season. Wilson is playing through injury and there has been some questionable play-calling from new head coach Nathaniel Hackett. However, the quarterback himself knows that he hasn't been at his best so far this season.
Russell Wilson needs to lead his team to a win in Week 7
Denver are currently 2-4, and are on pace to finish last in a stacked AFC West. They have simply got to get positive results in their next couple of games. Otherwise, they may hand a top 10 draft pick to the Seattle Seahawks next year.
Russell Wilson will go against Zach Wilson and the New York Jets in Week 7. Anything less than a win with a dominating performance from Wilson will be considered another failure for the Broncos.
Hopefully coach Nathaniel Hackett and Wilson will be able to turn things around in the coming games. Otherwise, we might see some changes in personnel in the Broncos dugout.
