Russell Wilson's stepson Future spotted repping George Pickens after Steelers' 44-28 win vs Bengals
Russell Wilson's wife, Ciara, has no qualms about her son, Future Zahir, wearing some other NFL player's jersey number instead of his step-father's number 3. Taking to Instagram, the pop star shared a picture of the 10-year-old, whom she shares with her ex-fiance, rapper Future, flaunting Steelers' jersey number 14.
During the Week 13 clash on Sunday, where the Steelers won 44-28 over the Bengals, Future Zahir wore a black Pittsburgh Steelers jersey emblazoned with the number 14. Alongside, he wore gray sweatpants, sneakers and a fanny pack.
In case you don't know, 14 is the jersey number of Steelers wide receiver George Pickens.
This isn’t the first time that Future Zahir has been spotted donning the Steelers' number 14 jersey. Just last month, he wore the same jersey during a Steelers vs. Ravens clash.
For sure, this gesture raises eyebrows since his step-father, Russell Wilson, wears number 3.
That said, Future Zahir's choice of Pickens' number 14 over Wilson’s number 3 is still a mystery.
Russell Wilson has found his footing in the Pittsburgh Steelers
After the Steelers made a midseason quarterback switch, Russell Wilson hit the headlines. The crux of the controversy was the team's decision to start Wilson over Justin Fields, despite the Steelers' good record (4-2) under Fields.
The fact that Wilson experienced two rough seasons with the Denver Broncos and started late into the season due to a calf injury gave rise to a lot of debates.
“I’ve been trying to figure out what could motivate (Mike) Tomlin to make this change," ESPN’s Mina Kimes criticized the move in these words. "It’s one that I don’t quite understand."
However, the Steelers' gamble paid off!
Since taking the reins in October, Russell Wilson has guided the team proficiently. On top of that, under Wilson, the offense is averaging nearly 29 points per game, which is 8.3 points higher than 20.7 points per game under Fields.
Moreover, Wilson is currently recording the second-highest passing yards per game (271) in the league.
Week 13 for Wilson was full of firepower. He threw for 414 yards and led his team to a win (44-28) over the Cincinnati Bengals. On the flip side, Justin Fields struggled and couldn't surpass 200 passing yards in several games.
Moving on, Wilson will be in the spotlight as the Steelers are preparing to face the Browns in Week 14, the Eagles in Week 15, the Ravens in Week 16 and the Chiefs in Week 17.
