Russell Wilson's wife Ciara opens up about breakup with Future

In a recent interview, Russell Wilson's wife Ciara shed some light on her breakup with rapper Future. Sometimes, a relationship ending might just be the clarity one needs to move forward. Considering her ongoing marriage to the NFL star, Ciara's relationship with Future was short-lived.

Despite having parted ways years ago, Future and Ciara are often discussed by fans. In fact, the rapper even incorporated a fake Wilson in a YouTube video.

Ciara, on her end, saw the end of their relationship as something positive. In a recent interview with Women's Health, Ciara spoke of various aspects of her life, one of them being her widely-discussed relationship history. The Future-Ciara breakup was public and intense, which ultimately nudged Ciara into taking self-love seriously:

“I told myself I’ve got to figure out how to navigate in the next chapter of my life. All the things I was aspiring to have at that time, even thinking about love, I was like, It’s going to happen when it’s supposed to."

She continued:

"But I can’t love anybody to the best of my ability if I’m not loving on myself. I can’t be the best mom if I’m not loving on myself. So I put more focus on me, taking care of me; it was the best thing I could have done.”

Ciara and Future met in 2012, and were engaged months later in October 2013. However, following rumors of Future cheating on her, they split up in 2014. The couple also have a child (Future Jr.) together.

Ciara and Russell Wilson remain NFL's 'it' couple

Shortly after her split with Future, Ciara was spotted with Russell Wilson. From getting married to starting a family together, the couple are easily one of the NFL's most popular pairs.

They have been together for more than six years, meeting in 2015. They attended the White House State Dinner for Japan, making their relationship official. They tied the knot on July 6, 2016 at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England.

They have two children together: Sienna Princess and Win Harrison. After spending years in Seattle, Ciara and Russell Wilson recently moved to Denver. The 37-year-old continues to support her husband's ambitions with the Denver Broncos and is excited about their future together:

"Denver's amazing. The altitude is a beast. Walking up three - just like one flight of stairs, I'm like, 'Okay, I need some water. I need to take a deep breath. I got to come back. Alright, I'm back.' I mean, it's really something and you feel it, but it's been incredible."
