Russell Wilson's stepson Future Jr. lands job with Steelers

It's been more than an eventful year for Russell Wilson. The nine-time Pro Bowler finally left the Denver Broncos after a doomed season in Colorado and eventually landed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who will reportedly pay him a mere $1.2 million this year, with the rest of Wilson's salary coming from the $37.8 million the Broncos owe him.

In any case, Russell Wilson is settling in seamlessly in Pittsburgh despite having to look over his shoulder in a QB battle with Justin Fields. In a post on social media platform X this week, Wilson announced that his stepson Future Jr. will work with the Steelers this season as a ballboy and in the locker room. Wilson wrote:

"I’m full of Joy! Nothing better than seeing you smile & become a young man. I am so proud of you Future! Working as a ball boy for the @Steelers & in Locker Room. Being so dedicated to sports and everything you embark on!
"You’re the sunshine of my life. I love you. Keep Winning son! There is nothing you can’t do w/ Jesus on your side! Love you to Heaven & Back!"

Russell Wilson on the challenges of being a stepdad to Future Jr.

In an interview on the I Am Athlete podcast at the end of February this year, the Super Bowl champion opened up about how he approached being a parent to his wife Ciara's son with the rapper Future.

Wilson said:

"You got to love every single child as if they're yours. That's been the greatest gift of raising Future, and Sienna, and Win, and now Amora.
"God gave me that opportunity to raise them and to love them and to care for them and teach them every day... To me, it's the greatest gift, knowing that's the responsibility to raise these four beautiful children all together."

Wilson's wife Ciara, though, was a little more animated about the challenges of co-parenting a child.

In a September interview, Ciara was asked about her experience of co-parenting a child with her ex-boyfriend Future. The pop star simply laughed derisively for 30 seconds straight in response.

In October 2023, Ciara shed a little more light on why things went sideways with Future.

"When you have a child, it's very important to me, it's no time to play around. I am now responsible for another life, so what am I doing, how am I thinking that through?," Ciara said.
