Ryan Clark drops bold prediction for Justin Fields to dethrone Russell Wilson

Ryan Clark has just given his bold prediction in the battle of the Steelers' quarterbacks and backed Justin Fields to take over from Russell Wilson as the starter. Pittsburgh traded away Kenny Pickett this offseason and brought in both the former Broncos player and the Bears starter.

The thought was that the Super Bowl-winning veteran would begin the season, with Justin Fields getting the opportunity to sit behind him and learn to take the reins in the future.

But Ryan Clark feels that Russell Wilson will be dethroned by his younger counterpart, who in turn will lead the Steelers to the playoffs. He based that on Pittsburgh having a competitive team and having a dynamic dual-threat quarterback would make them even better. He said:

"And Justin Fields will lead the Steelers to the playoffs. That means first he has to become the starter which he is (going to accomplish) and then when he becomes the starter, he has to get to the playoffs, which he is (going to accomplish).
"My team always feels like a competent team, a competitive team, now they're going to have a dynamic playmaker in QB and they will be in the playoffs."

Ryan Clark weighs in on two other QBs apart from Russell Wilson and Justin Fields

Ryan Clark was not done predicting how different quarterbacks will fare during the 2024 NFL season and did not keep his opinions limited to Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

Instead, he also backed C.J. Stroud to build on his fantastic rookie season, where he was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2023, and take the Texans to the AFC Championship game in 2024. That is high praise from the Super Bowl-winning commentator and that made his comments about Jayden Daniels even more noteworthy.

Ryan Clark believes that Jayden Daniels will have as good a season as C.J. Stroud did last year. Both quarterbacks were picked second overall, so there is some precedent to that.

And his prediction about Russell Wilson and Justin Fields might not be too far-fetched either as the former Broncos quarterback is only here on a year's deal and that is only made possible as Denver is paying the lion's share of the due amount.

If the ex-Bears player is the future, then the Steelers might need to hand over the reins in the middle of the season for him to take over after learning for the first few months of the season. It could be a fascinating ride over in Pittsburgh.
