Saints QB Derek Carr makes opinion clear on ex-teammate Michael Thomas' tirade after Chris Olave's concussion
Derek Carr did not exactly have the best Sunday. As if losing to the Carolina Panthers wasn't bad enough, the New Orleans Saints also might have had a part to play in one of the team's best receivers suffering a concussion.
That moment was seized upon by his former teammate, Michael Thomas, who went on a tirade against him on X (formerly, Twitter). In the presser after the game, Derek Carr addressed the rant against him when asked by a reporter what he felt about it.
He started off by saying that he had nothing but love for his former teammate, but he also acknowledged that even while they were playing together, Thomas was the only player he did not get along with. But Derek Carr could not point to any incident that might have sparked his animosity towards him.
"And sometimes you can try as hard as you want, and it just doesn't work out, and that's okay. So I don't know why he feels any type of way. I don't see it."
He added that Thomas did not reach out to him to talk to him after his rant, even though his number hasn't changed.
"I won't see it because I always ignore everything. Good and bad."
Derek Carr ended by saying that he wished the free agent luck and hoped that some team finally came calling for him and he gets to play football once again.
What did Michael Thomas say about Derek Carr?
During the game against the Panthers, Carr threw the ball toward Chris Olave, but it overshot him. However, a Panthers defender crashed into him and their heads collided. He lay motionless on the field for some time before being taken away on a stretcher and ruled out of the game due to concussion.
Michael Thomas took to X to call Derek Carr an "a**" and said that he panicked when he saw the Panthers linemen coming at him and throwing the ball without making sure that Olave wouldn't get hit.
He also called for his benching and in another tweet said that when they were together in New Orleans, he lied and said that Thomas was jealous of Olave for being WR1. And then during the game, he couldn't even throw the ball properly to "WR1".
Will Michael Thomas finally find a team to play for and go face-to-face with his former teammate?
